Before becoming an attorney, I was a professional social worker and counselor for more than sixteen years. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Social Welfare and a Masters degree in Counseling. I earned my law degree from North Carolina Central University, which I attended in the evening while working as a child abuse investigator during the day.

I have been an attorney since 1992 and started working with estate and elder law issues almost immediately. I have been involved in over fifteen hundred guardianship hearings, drafted several hundred wills, trusts, and estate plans as my practice continues to grow in that area.

I am a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the North Carolina Bar Association Elder Law and Estate Plannning Sections.
